Our First Annie Awards – Watch the Show!

OUR FIRST ANNIE AWARDS

We went stateside during February 2025 to visit VFX studios and attend the Annies and VES Awards. The Annies, founded by June Foray in 1972, is an evening to celebrate the masters of animation across the globe. Set in the grounds of one of LA’s most prestigious colleges, the UCLA, we were in awe of the magnificent buildings and campus. the UCLA has been used as a location for various movies over the years, including The Godfather and Legally Blonde.

This year’s winners included Flow, The Wild Robot, The Tiny Chef Show, Arcane and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Congratulations to everyone involved and nominated!

World VFX Day held a ticket competition for one winner to attend the Annies with us. Céline Molière, 3D artist and Gnomon graduate, was the lucky recipient.

Apart from one fire alarm evacuation (false alarm), the evening went without a glitch and we felt very privileged to be there. All the nominees and winners received loud applause during the evening, but the biggest by far, together with a standing ovation, was reserved for the Los Angeles firefighters who were invited to announce some of the awards and treat us to a special performance with some firefighting bagpipers!

The deadline to submit projects falls around August, so if you want to be part of this magical evening, then put it in your diary!
